Is the Fort Worth Drug Scene Being Fueled by Punk Rock Scenes and Music Shows
Punk Rock in Fort Worth
Recently Fort Worth has been taken by storm by punk rock bands, punk music venues, shows swamping parks and public areas, and punk rock music stores. The problems of drug abuse, drug addiction, and drug-related crime have also been increasing in Fort Worth. Many city officials and governing bodies have been trying to draw a correlation between the increase in social activities of a hard rock nature of Fort Worth’s young adults and the increasing drug problem.
While there exists little evidence to prove this, the situation is suspicious. Much of the drugs that are confiscated, found on young adults, and taken during drug dealer and trafficker busts have been party- related drugs. The most common of these found has been Ecstasy, also known as Molly and MDMA. But many others like cocaine, psychiatric pills, and opiate pills have also been confiscated. It’s difficult to point fingers at the punk rock scene in general, as these drugs have always been in Fort Worth, and the punk rock scene has not.
How to Find Out the Truth
On the bright side, steps are being taken to discover the truth on this possible and dangerous situation. City officials have tasked law enforcement agencies to inspect, examine, observe, and even go undercover in some of these scenes. It is a delicate issue as many venues are completely innocent, whereas others may not be. A complete shut down of the scene will only incite rebellion and may severely worsen the situation. Nevertheless, multiple individuals across Fort Worth have been tasked to examine the situation once and for all.
What One Can Do On an Individual Basis
If one has a son daughter, sibling, friend, or other family member who may be involved with one of these scenes, then there are things one can do on an individual basis to ascertain if the individual in question is using drugs or not. For example, there exists a whole series of physiological and very observable traits that one can see in a person who is using drugs. Some of these are listed below:
- Sudden change in behavior
- Mood swings; irritable and grumpy and then suddenly happy and bright
- Withdrawal from family members
- Careless about personal grooming
- Loss of interest in hobbies, sports, and other favorite activities
- Changed sleeping pattern; up at night and sleeps during the day
- Red or glassy eyes
- Sniffly or runny nose
If one suspects a family member or friend of abusing drugs then the best thing to do is to talk to them. Find something that they will talk about, and start there, eventually moving into a talk about drugs. One must try to get a straight answer on whether or not there exists drug abuse in the individual, and if so, to what extent and if it is involved with the Fort Worth punk rock scene.
What to Do if A Family Member or Loved One is Abusing Drugs
Finding out that a family member or loved one is abusing drugs can be scary, hard to confront, and even downright terrifying. One must not display these emotions to the drug user however. There are definite and specific ways in which one should act and steps that one must take to try and resolve the situation as quickly and efficiently and as easily as possible.
Inpatient, residential drug and alcohol addiction rehabilitation centers and programs offer the best, most safest, and most comfortable environments for coming off of drugs and for kicking an addiction physically and mentally. It is currently being recommended to families in Fort Worth to immediately look into an inpatient program if it is expected that there might be someone within the family or close group of friends who might be abusing drugs. If the individual happened to be getting the drugs through a punk rock scene in Fort Worth, then this should be reported to the authorities so that the situation can be addressed properly and further addiction can be prevented.
